Project Goats

Starting my goat business with well-bred, registered goats has allowed me to offer excellent young meat goats for 4-H and FFA youth projects.

Having a lot of goats for targeted grazing allows those looking for project animals a large selection at a single location. Each year, starting in January and ending in late February, my targeted grazing doe herd produce between 100 and 150 kids.  Many of those baby goats have the genetic potential of becoming part of a junior exhibitor’s market goat project, or a breeding goat project.  Being a 4-H project leader for nearly a decade, I have watched a lot of shows and produced many market goat champions at our local fair.  I have also sold a number of registered does that have done very well in the Junior American Boer Goat Association sanctioned show for youth breeding projects.

Unlike most targeted grazing contractors, I continue to invest in high quality breeding stock to stay competitive in the project, show, and commercial meat goat market.  I’ve found a well-bred goat eats just as much brush and noxious weeds as a poorly bred goat.
